25th September 2018: Ultra Mileage 1.3 Released

v1.3 of Ultra Mileage has just been released. This introduces a range of usability improvements and bug fixes. When present, minimum/maximum road speeds in the OpenStreetMap source data are now taken into account. It is recommended that all users upgrade to this version due to the number of small improvements.

A full list of the improvements are listed on the Revision History page of the documentation.

We continue to have a Guided Tour, and a free 14 page trial.
Ultra Mileage prices start at US$120 per license. Upgrades to v1.2 are free for existing customers.

24th September 2018: All road packs have been updated

All road packs have just been re-computed with the latest OpenStreetMap (OSM) road data. These road packs also take into account any minimum or maximum road speeds specified in the OSM data.

27th August 2018: MileCharter for Mobile available for testing

A new application in our MileCharter product line is currently under development for mobile Android devices. An intermediate version is now available for free testing. If you are interested, please contact us, or see the MileCharter for Mobile website for further details.

All road packs have just been re-computed with the latest OpenStreetMap road data.

4th June 2018: Ultra Mileage 1.2 Released

v1.2 of Ultra Mileage has just been released. It is strongly recommended that all users upgrade to this version due to a change in the road pack format. The old road packs will remain online until December, but there will only be updates to the new format.

The changes to the road pack format result in an uncompressed file size of approximately half of the old format. Note that this improvement only affects the disk space and download time - not the memory requirements. Some of these improvements are due to internal format changes. Others are due to the ability to 'prune' extraneous intermediate (non-routing) nodes from a road. These are only used for drawing in QC mode, and when matching a start/end location with the road network. Nodes are only removed where they are very close together and do not result in significant visual changes to the road paths. New settings in the pre-processor allow you to control this pruning process.

The highway types have had a number of adjustments. Unrecognized highway types are now ignored, and the highway types of "corridor" (building corridor) and "crossing" (pedestrian part of a pedestrian crossing) are now explicitly listed and ignored.

A number of other usability improvements and minor bugs have been fixed. The most significant is probably in Ultra One2OneMileage, where there have been significant improvements to the database efficiency when setting the processing parameters.

A full list of the improvements are listed on the Revision History page of the documentation.

26th March 2018: New Road Packs: Korea, Southeast Asia, and South America

New road packs have been created for the Korean Peninsular, Southeast Asia, and South America. The road packs now have global coverage and only excluding obscure settlements such as Antarctic research stations.

All road packs except for DACH and Contiguous USA have been recomputed. Unused meta data has also been filtered from the accompanying PBF files. This reduces their sizes by about 15%.

19th March 2018: Ultra Mileage 1.1 Released

The new update of Ultra Mileage has just been released. This now includes our port of MPMileage, Ultra One2OneMileage. Ultra One2OneMileage is licensed separately to Ultra MileCharter, but discounted combined licenses are available.

v1.1 includes a range of other features and improvements. These include better handling of 'orphan' road segments. These are short road segments which are not connected to the rest of the road network. They can be partly filtered by the Pre-Processor, or the routing engine can skip them. New options for configuration files and a 'quiet' command line batch mode operation of both Ultra MileCharter and Ultra One2OneMileage have been added. A full list of new features and abilities are listed on the Revision History page of the documentation.

We have a Guided Tour, and a free 14 page trial.

26th February 2018: New Road Packs: Middle East, Central Asia, and China

New road packs have been created for the Middle East, Central Asia, and China. The non-Russian Caucasus have also been added to the East Mediterranean road pack.

All road packs have also been recomputed. All service roads (alleys and similar access roads) have had their speeds reduced to 5mph / 8kph. "Orphan" (disconnected sections of road) less than a mile (1.6km) have been filtered out of the road networks. Examples include tracks that are only connected to paths, and alleys in pedestrianized town centers. The ability to control the orphan road filtering will be included in the next version of the Ultra Pre-Processor.

12th February 2018: Ultra One2OneMileage available for beta testing

Ultra One2OneMileage is the Ultra Mileage port of our MPMileage product. This computes route distances and travel times for point-to-point routes listed in a database, writing the results back to the database.

Contact us if you would like to help with the testing.
